** Are you ready to build a D.C. for the many?
------------------------------------------------------------
Comrade,
In November, our DSA chapter resoundingly voted to endorse Janeese Lewis George in her race for the Ward 4 seat on the D.C. Council. Janeese is running to make D.C. a more inclusive and equitable city for all. And she's only taking small donor contributions (up to $50) to do it.
The next D.C. fundraising deadline is TONIGHT at midnight. Can you chip in today to support Janeese's grassroots campaign? ([link removed])

Janeese's chief opponent, developer-funded incumbent Brandon Todd, has consistently stood in the way ([link removed]) of achieving a truly equitable and inclusive D.C. In Brandon Todd's time on the council, he has weakened D.C.'s Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act, voted against paid family leave, and voted to overturn Initiative 77—the voter-backed referendum that would have raised the minimum wage for tipped workers.
Janeese is running to build a district that works for all of us, not just the wealthy and well-connected few. She supports the Reclaim Rent Control platform, has refused to take campaign donations from local utilities and fossil fuel companies, and will invest in neighborhood public schools and universal child care.
Janeese has the support of a strong left coalition, but she still has a tough fight ahead. Can you make a donation to help elect a democratic socialist to the D.C. Council? ([link removed])
Under D.C.’s new Fair Elections campaign financing program, the maximum campaign donation is just $50. If you are a D.C. resident, the city will match your donation five times over, meaning that a $50 donation will provide $300 to the campaign. Non-D.C. residents can also donate, but your donation will not be matched. All donations will help build momentum to send a clear message in the June 2 primary: People power beats corporate Democrats!
In solidarity,
Metro D.C. DSA Ward 4 Electoral Working Group
P.S. We are knocking on doors every weekend from now through the primary for Janeese! Sign up here ([link removed]) if you can knock doors this Sunday or want to stay in the loop on future organizing.
