Friend -

If you’re anything like me, you can’t stand the seemingly fake deadlines that candidates use to drum up donations. The latest one? “Mid-month fundraising deadline.”

And since I get the same fundraising emails that you do from a ton of candidates, let me break down what this means.

First important fact: a “mid-month deadline” isn’t an official deadline of any kind. It’s something campaigns make up to create a sense of urgency.

Ultimately, creating a deadline is just a tactic to help candidates meet their April fundraising goals – goals we all actually set for our campaign internally.

I, too, have internal goals. Any strong campaign has to have goals and work toward them. That means I may send a few more emails than usual in the coming days. I know more email can be annoying, but it reflects how important these emails are to our campaign: Most Senate campaigns will raise about a third of our total donations from email, text, and digital fundraising.

But here’s the truth: keeping our narrow Senate majority depends on the outcome of our race here in the traditional swing state of Michigan. And winning means we have to hit a number of fundraising goals along the way.

So, while I am out there working hard in Congress and on the campaign trail, I need help from people like you who understand how important this race is:

Can you please contribute $3, or whatever amount feels right to you today, to my U.S. Senate campaign? Help us hit our monthly fundraising goals in April by donating today.

If you've stored your info with ActBlue, we'll process your contribution instantly:

Thank you in advance – and know that there’s a science behind these asks!
