John,
As State Treasurer of Delaware, I am committed to working with the community in addressing their financial challenges and concerns, so that our residents can make informed decisions about their finances.
With the end of the month upon us, I'd like to update you on my recent activities:
💵 Weeks ago, we recognized April as Financial Literacy month. Our office is deeply committed to supporting individuals with disabilities and understands the unique challenges they face, particularly when it comes to managing their finances. This is why the State of Delaware is promoting different savings programs, such as the ABLE account, which allows those with disabilities to save money without losing vital state and federal benefits. In addition, you can now take advantage of a $5,000 tax deduction for contributions to an ABLE account. .
💪 In the past month, I had the privilege of participating at the Economic and Financial Empowerment Forum, where I engaged with trusted community members about retirement readiness. During the event, I highlighted the Delaware EARNS act, which provides a secure retirement program for Delawareans who do not have the benefit of an employer sponsored program. I was happy to meet all of the attendees and answer their questions about how Delaware is helping people save for retirement and close the wealth gap.
🏫 Additionally, I visited several local elementary, middle, and high schools, to teach children about financial literacy. As part of our commitment to ensure Delaware residents a safer and more stable future, it's crucial to engage with young people on financial matters. This will help us prepare the next generation to make informed financial decisions.
These are just some of the highlights of what has been a busy but productive month. However, I need your help to continue the work with a full tank. Our End of Month Fundraising Deadline is TONIGHT, and we only need to raise $1946 to finish strong and stay on track with our year-round grassroots fundraising efforts. Can you help us reach our goal by donating $5, $10, $20, or whatever amount you're able to give, today?
