*Why we are 350:* Scientists overwhelmingly agree that *350ppm CO2* is the
upper limit to sustain life as humans have lived it. For 800,000+
years *atmospheric
CO2 varied between roughly 180 to 280ppm

*The Evers Petition*
------------------------------
*The Line 5 P**ipeline threatens Tribal land, Treaty Rights in the ceded
territory, the Great Lakes, and the climate.* The pipeline, which is long
past its lifespan, is currently pumping tar sands oil under expired
permits. Despite the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa’s request
that Enbridge remove Line 5 and not put a pipeline in the Bad River
watershed, Enbridge has moved forward with their reroute just south of the
reservation. This expansion is within the watershed, and the risk to the
treasured ecosystem remains.
If a rupture were to occur on the current or proposed Line 5, it could be
devastating. All of the waterways in the area flow into Lake Superior and
are critical for the water-rich area, especially with the importance of the
wild rice in the area. The local economy, which relies on tourism, would
also be impacted by a spill.
Additionally, *as clearly articulated in Governor Evers’ Task Force on
Climate Change report*, we need to be moving away from fossil fuel
infrastructure, not investing in new infrastructure. Please work to ensure
that the Line 5 pipeline is decommissioned and removed, not expanded.

*The Inflation Reduction Act & Electrification*
*Phil Smith*
Citizens' Climate Lobby - Waukesha
The presentation will summarize the expected reductions in greenhouse
gasses resulting from the IRA along with the tax and point of sale rebates
included in the act. Heat pump space heaters, heat pump water heaters,
electric stoves, electric service upgrades, home weatherization, solar
panels and electric vehicles will be discussed.
*What is the IRA?*
"The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022
<[link removed]> is the
most significant climate legislation in U.S. history, offering funding,
programs, and incentives to accelerate the transition to a clean energy
economy and will likely drive significant deployment of new clean
electricity resources. Most provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act of
2022 became effective 1/1/2023." - EPA

*Chase & Wells Fargo Banks*
Many banks (including Chase and Wells Fargo) are lending their *depositor's
money* to fossil fuel companies to develop new fossil fuel production.
We want more people to be aware of this and hopefully change their bank or
talk to the management!
We get honks and thumbs up from drivers and passersby. Some people stop
and have a chat about what the banks are doing, or ask, "What is fossil fuel
<[link removed]>?"
We're alternating between two Chase Bank locations.

*JUNE 8 - 11END THE ERA OF FOSSIL FUELS!*
Right now, we are in a critical moment of escalation. In September of this
year UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres is calling

accountability summit in New York City where the explicit “ticket to entry”
will be tangible action to keep fossil fuels in the ground.
