Hey there --
Big news: We got Google’s attention.
Last week, we put pressure on Google for their failed promises to protect abortion seekers with our #HeyGoogle Day of Action and our airplane banner reading “PROTECT ABORTION PRIVACY” over Google’s annual I/O developer conference.
Yep. That was us – and CEO Sundar Pichai took note. A few days later Google "clarified" how they track Location History. While the clarification note was mostly lip service — and did not include any meaningful changes to protect abortion privacy — our collective efforts put us on the radar of one of the biggest companies in the world.
Friend, we can’t let up now. We know they heard us, and we won’t stop until they commit to stop collecting and retaining location data once and for all. Here’s what you can do to build on the momentum:
- If you haven’t already, sign the petition calling on Google to stop collecting location data and aiding abortion prosecutors
- Forward this email to friends and family so they can take action.
- Donate to support our work, so we can find more impactful ways to pressure Google to do the right thing.
We won’t let Google off the hook for their inadequate response and continued failure to fix this serious problem that could contribute to evidence for abortion prosecutors.
