On July 16, we will celebrate one year of the 988 Lifeline. The 988 Lifeline is a nationwide number that provides support for those struggling with mental health, substance abuse, or suicide.
Since its establishment one year ago, over five million people have called the Lifeline seeking support. That is an average of more than one thousand people a day. However, a new report from the National Alliance on Mental Illness says that over 80% of people still do not know about this vital lifeline.
If you are in need of help for a mental health crisis, dial 9-8-8.
In Georgia alone, we lost 1,500 neighbors, friends, and loved ones to suicide. Every single one of us plays a role in suicide prevention - do not let yourself or someone else become another statistic.
