Friend,
Earlier this week, my colleagues and I on the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to bring the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal and Transparency Act to the Senate Floor.
Our legislation would bring much-needed changes to the Supreme Court.
It would establish new rules around conflicts of interest, create a publicly available code of conduct, require gift, travel, and income disclosures, and more.
Friend, I don’t think it’s radical to say that the Supreme Court — the highest court in the nation — should have enforceable ethics standards on par with almost every other government employee.
And since the Supreme Court has demonstrated that they’re unwilling to hold themselves to a high ethical standard, it’s up to Congress to do it for them.
And even though the bill passed through the Judiciary Committee, every single Republican voted against it.
So today I’m asking you to lend me your support and help me show to my Republican colleagues that the American people overwhelmingly support holding the Supreme Court accountable for their corruption.
Thanks for your support, friend. More soon.
