Ready, Connected, Supported

Work plays a crucial role in young people's lives. What happens with young people who are not pursuing four year degrees and do not have early work experience? To find out, check out the new working paper from the America’s Promise youth employment initiative, the YES—Young, Employed, Successful—Project. 

The working paper ([link removed]) breaks down the “Ready, Connected, Supported” framework that serves as the backbone of the YES Project and provides a shared approach from which everyone—from employers and public officials to community leaders and young people themselves—is driving action toward increasing youth employment. Their goal: every young person seeking a job can find a job.

Creating Cultures of Care - New Resource!

America’s Promise Alliance’s research arm, the Center For Promise, released a new brief, Creating Cultures of Care: Supporting the Whole Child through Trauma-Informed Practice ([link removed]), about an essential component of better supporting the whole child: trauma-informed practice. This brief bridges theory and practice and shows how trauma-informed approaches complement positive youth development. You’ll read about the work of two specific communities—one in Oregon and one in Missouri—which are engaged in collaborative, on-the-ground efforts to make healthy schools that support all young people the norm and not the exception. These communities can serve as an inspiration to others across the country as they lead the way in creating healthier school environments where every child can thrive.

This brief is jam-packed with resources that we think you’ll find helpful from organizations like Child Trends, Turnaround For Children, and the US Department of Health and Human Services.
