Dear Friend,

The popcorn is ready! This year, my office partnered with D.C. Public Library and Naval Lodge No. 4 to continue Black History Month celebrations with a free showing of an Academy Award-nominated film about the life of Harriet Tubman.

I hope you will join us for the free screening of HARRIET tomorrow, February 23, at 2:00pm at the Watha T. Daniel/Shaw Public Library (1630 7th St. NW)!

The film follows Harriet Tubman's escape from slavery and road to becoming one of our country’s most revered freedom fighters and icons of courage. She is one of America’s greatest heroes—fighting for her own life and others' lives in the face of immense hate and adversity. She represents courage, ingenuity, tenacity, and so much more.

HARRIET runs for two hours and will be shown in the library's community room on the lower level. The location is handicap-accessible, but note that the film will not be captioned this time. Watha T. Daniel/Shaw Public Library is located directly across from the Shaw-Howard Metro Station (yellow/green) and is accessible by bus lines G8, G9, 70, and 79.

We'll provide popcorn, drinks, and other light refreshments to enjoy. All you have to do is grab a movie seat and bring a friend!

Hope to see you tomorrow,

Elissa.
