Wear black if you can and bring a colourful umbrella if it's wet! No images? Click here Dear John, Did you get my email about the creative photo action that Stop Climate Chaos member organisation, Friends of the Earth, is holding on Sandymount Strand this Sunday? They’re finalising preparations for this action and they'd love to know if you'll be able to join them. This action is part of a global wave of actions that are taking place all over the world to call for a fast and fair phase out of climate-wrecking fossil fuels. Friends of the Earth is meeting at 12 noon this Sunday at Sandymount Stand. It would be great if you could RSVP here if you plan on joining them - having an idea of numbers will help plan how to best set up the photo action. To help colour-coordinate the photo stunt, it would be great if you could wear something black if you have it. But this is not essential. If it's wet on the day you’re invited to bring a colourful umbrella - to help add a splash of colour to the photo. But again, this is not essential. The most important thing is that you bring yourself! In case you missed my first email about the action I'll include it again below for your reference - it has more details about why Sunday's action is important in the fight against fossil fuels and climate breakdown. Hoping to see you on Sunday. Sadhbh Dear John, Are you sick of the damage the fossil fuels are doing to people and our planet? Would you like to take part in a global day of action to end fossil fuels? Then pop this Sunday, 17th September, into your diary!Activists from around the world are planning to take to the streets on this day to demand a fossil-free future! Stop Climate Chaos member organisation, Friends of the Earth, is too, with a twist! They're heading to the beach and they’d love you to join them. Friends of the Earth is organising a creative photo action at 12 noon on Sandymount Strand to call on the Irish Government to support a global phase out of fossil fuels. Will you join the Global Day of Action to end fossil fuels? The 17th September will be an important moment for us to demand a fast and fair phaseout of all fossil fuels and to show our opposition to polluting Liquefied Natural Gas in particular. The UN Secretary General’s Climate Ambition Summit is taking place in New York this month leading up to the COP28 global climate negotiations in December. This makes it a crucial time to call on the Government to support global efforts to end the expansion of fossil fuels! Will you join the action at 12 noon on 17th September at Sandymount Strand?Your presence is really needed on the day to show how much people care about ending our global addiction to dirty fossil fuels. Friends of the Earth is hoping to get media coverage of the photo stunt - so the more people there to add weight to their fossil free demands the better. Come with your friends, family, neighbours, your local climate action group, or on your own - you’ll have a chance to meet other like minded people while demanding a more sustainable fossil free future for us all! Could you forward this email to anyone who might be interested in joining this action on Sandymount Strand? In addition to the day of action on the 17th September, youth activists will also be mobilising worldwide on the 15th of September as part of the Fridays for Future movement. Hoping to see you at Sandymount this Sunday. In solidarity, Sadhbh Stop Climate Chaos is a coalition of civil society organizations campaigning to ensure Ireland does its fair share to tackle the causes and consequences of climate change. |
