I am asking you to make a contribution of $3 directly to my campaign for Senate before Donald Trump takes the stage at his event in Michigan tonight.

Tonight, Donald Trump is skipping the second GOP debate and making a big, splashy visit to Michigan to energize Republicans who think they can flip this battleground state. To show his support for the UAW, he’ll be taking the stage at a non-unionized facility in Macomb County.

What we’ve seen this week is really a tale of two visits: Trump says he’s coming to “support striking workers”, but he is coming to a non-union plant. And when UAW workers at GM were on strike in 2019, then-President Trump stood on the sidelines and said nothing in support. Meanwhile, yesterday, President Biden became the first President to join a picket line and stand with workers in solidarity. The difference couldn’t be more stark.

But the truth is that Trump’s visit isn’t really about supporting workers, it’s about scoring political points in a state that will be central to his presidential campaign.

Donald Trump calls Michigan a "must-win" state for him and that "if we win Michigan, we win the presidency." Trump's campaign said "this will be a knockdown, drag-out fight to the very end." You may recall, Trump won Michigan in 2016 by 10,704 votes, and lost it in 2020 by 154,118 votes.

So what does that mean for our race for Senate? It means we're going to be seeing Trump in Michigan a whole lot. And National Republicans will be doing everything they can to flip our state red and boost our GOP opponent in the Senate race.

There's also going to be an extraordinary amount of outside spending in this race. We're going to see relentless attack ads against me because I tend to do well in the areas of Michigan often overlooked by Democrats. With the Senate race being the top of the ticket here in Michigan, their strategy will be to drag me down in the hopes of not only winning this Senate race, but flipping the White House red too.

This is why I have to ask:

Can you please make a $3 contribution to our campaign for Senate in Michigan before our FEC fundraising deadline ends on Saturday night? Even a small donation would be a help!
