the euro, the Y2K scare, the move from ICQ to MSN to iMessage, the rise and fall
of Nokia, Motorola and BlackBerry phones and the shift from Blockbuster rentals
to streaming on Netflix. It was also the end of dial up internet, Pluto was
officially no longer a planet and Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time” reached
top charts. But one thing is still stuck in 1999: the Canadian Environmental Protection Act
(CEPA)
[[link removed]] – the law that’s supposed to protect our health and the environment from
harmful chemicals in makeup, cleaning products, food packaging, furniture, and
the air we breathe.
[[link removed]]This means that for the last 20 years, the government has failed to protect
Canadians and the environment from exposure to hormone disruptors and countless
harmful toxics in consumer products.

The government made a promise to strengthen CEPA but we have yet to see any
action. We’ve waited 20 years too long, we can’t afford to wait any longer.

The next few months are critical. Join us in urging the government to update
CEPA by this October.

Tell Canada to stop delaying action and protect us from toxic chemicals today!
