Hello Friend,

Watch the Rt. Hon. Winston Peters and Hon. Shane Jones discuss support for our regions during the COVID-19 pandemic. <[link removed]>
We New Zealanders are facing an unprecedented economic and health crisis from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Coalition Government is taking action to keep people healthy and ensure the economy keeps going.
A massive $12.1 billion package for health, welfare, and business has already been announced. At four per cent of our GDP, it is the most significant peace-time economic plan in modern New Zealand history.
It is the biggest package ever to keep as many people as we can in work and supporting businesses with tax cuts to assist them with cash flow.
We know businesses and workers are struggling already. We are working to help them weather this crisis.
The Provincial Growth Fund, New Zealand First’s cornerstone policy for our regions, will still be in action to roll out even more financial support for the regions.
We know that the backbone industries of New Zealand are largely in the provinces. We will ensure that the cash lifeblood continues to flow from government into those areas that, in the past, have been neglected or overlooked when facing such difficulties.
A sum of $100 million has just been announced to help our workers in the forestry sector, and the roll-out of this support has begun in our East Coast region already.
The most important message for our households, our communities, our businesses and our workers in provincial New Zealand is that we are with you. Your interests are our interests.
They are the vital interests of ensuring New Zealanders work together and emerge from this crisis resilient, robust, and with a higher level of confidence. We can prevail if we all work together.
We are stronger together.
