February 5th is one of the most important deadlines of our campaign.
It’s the day we can submit our first fundraising report to qualify for matching funds from San Francisco’s public financing program. Pundits and the press will be looking at our report – and our opponents’ – to assess each campaign’s viability.
The public financing program ensures that campaigns like this one have the resources to compete with campaigns self-funded by ultra-wealthy folks or backed by special interests. It’s a key component of our strategy to defeat the incumbent this fall and get San Francisco back on track.
If you live in San Francisco and contribute $150 (whether in one big donation or several smaller ones), it is worth a total of $1,050 in funds for our campaign. That’s because the public financing program matches all local donations six to one.
