We can’t talk about World Water Day (March 22) without addressing the tiny polluters in our waterways. Microfibers ([link removed]) shed from our clothing, making their way from washing machines to the ocean, and plastic pellets ([link removed]) (AKA nurdles) are found polluting coastlines, beaches, and lakes around the world – just this month, a train derailment in Pennsylvania ([link removed]) spilled plastic pellets along a river, highlighting the urgency of addressing this issue.

Read on to learn how YOU can make a difference in reducing microfibers, nurdles, and plastic pollution on World Water Day and beyond. We have options to get involved through individual action, community engagement, and advocacy. Remember, every drop counts!💧

There are small lifestyle changes we can make to reduce the harm caused by textiles… and it starts with doing less. Join us as we Do Less for the Planet ([link removed]) by buying less, washing less, and wasting less. This month, we’re sharing all about microfibers and how you can make a meaningful impact right from your laundry room.

Take Action on Pellet Pollution

Yesterday, 40 members of Congress joined Representatives Mike Levin (CA-49) and Mary Peltola (AK-At Large) to introduce the Plastic Pellet Free Waters Act ([link removed]) (HR 7634). This legislation will address the 230,000 tons of nurdles lost to the environment each year, protecting our waterways and holding polluters accountable.
