Friend,
It’s April 1st.
Today’s the day that rent, mortgages and a host of other essential bills like utilities are due for millions of Americans.
But right now, because of the COVID-19 public health crisis, many Americans are out of work with no clear timeline on when -- or if -- their livelihood will return.
Friend, in the face of such uncertainty, people need relief right now.
Congress recently passed an economic stimulus package, which will provide many Americans with a payment of $1,200 and increased unemployment insurance. This is a good start -- but we need to do more.
Will you sign our petition? We’re calling on Congress to help working families through this crisis with a full national rent and mortgage freeze and an immediate pause on all debt collection and student loan payments.

While many Americans will be eligible for some form of payment or aid from the economic stimulus package, it could be weeks or even months before that money reaches their bank accounts. But we will feel the full force of this virus on the public long before that, quite possibly today, when many Americans are unable to pay their April bills, through no fault of their own.
Now it’s up to our representatives to finish what they started. Tell Congress to help those impacted by this national crisis by implementing a full national rent and mortgage freeze and an immediate pause on all debt collection and student loan payments NOW.
