Happy Memorial Day, John!
As the unofficial start to summer begins, our beaches and waterways from Greenwich all the way to Stonington are welcoming back visitors to their sandy shores. We see Long Island Sound dotted with boats, and residents soaking in all the natural beauty Connecticut has to offer. |
As we enjoy our long weekend, and joyfully say hello to summer, we are also reflecting on the past. We’re reflecting on the importance of Memorial Day, and all of those who have fought for each of us to have this time together. And that they gave their lives so we could hold the simple joys in life, like taking our kids fishing on the first weekend of summer. But our commitment to honoring their memory extends beyond just one day of remembrance.
Connecticut has a long history and tradition of military service. From the Revolutionary War right up to today, we’ve answered the call for our country with consistency and courage.
So, as your summer plans may take you around the state this season, take a moment to visit one of the memorials in our state that stand in remembrance of our brave servicemembers. The Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch in Hartford, the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, and memorials in every Connecticut city and town are a year-round reminder of those who gave their lives in service to our nation.
Sincerely, Your CT Dems |
