I’ve added my name as co-sponsor to a few newly introduced bills that may be of interest to you. A new House resolution introduced by Rep. Tim Brennan will designate a bridge in Doylestown in honor of veteran and local leader Donald E. Parlee who earned degrees from Ursinus College and Temple University School of Medicine. The doctor earned a Bronze Star for his service in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and sadly passed away earlier this year. This bridge naming will honor his memory for years to come.
My colleague Rep. Borowski has introduced Supporting the Mental Health of our 911 Telecommunicators which will provide access to mental health services to the 911 telecommunicators employed in Pennsylvania. Every day our first responders, including 911 operators, are exposed to the traumas of car crashes, murders, suicides, domestic violence, and more and they need our help. With Montgomery County’s 911 call center located in this district, I’m proud to add my name to this bill and support our first responders.
HB 1963 from Rep. Pielli ensures that spouses of veterans are entitled to receive veteran’s preference death certificates with fees waived. HB 2127 from Rep. Fiedler establishes the Prenatal and Postpartum Counseling and Screening Act to require all prenatal and postnatal clinicians to distribute information relating to postpartum depression to the pregnant person and family members. It also would require medical professionals to conduct a postpartum screening for depression upon delivery and at the first few postnatal check-up visits.
HB 1509 from Rep. Nelson updates language and closes loopholes for 2A class counties that currently lack a transparency and prison accountability that other class counties are required to perform. Lastly, HB 2338 from Rep. Fiedler revises administrative code for the Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority (PEDA) to ensure that PEDA can actively apply for and use federal investment collars from the Investment and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act.
