If we don’t fund affordable housing, we will get more homelessness.
Governor Gavin Newsom promised to build 1 million affordable homes by 2030, but currently, the state is still falling billions of dollars short of what is needed. We need the state to invest $18 billion dollars each year to get to our goal and yet, the state still lacks a dedicated source of revenue for affordable housing.
Right now we can change that - the Affordable Housing Bond Act of 2024 (AB 1657) is moving through the legislature and it would raise $10 billion for affordable housing. Thanks to your organizing, we managed to prevent $3 billion in cuts from the Governor, but California is still $15 billion short.

For most of us, the lack of affordable housing is a top priority. Yet our state leaders continue to fail to meet the needs of our communities. When our state fails to invest in affordable housing, more of our neighbors become homeless. The cycle must stop.
We all benefit when we all have housing so our communities can grow and thrive. Urge Governor Gavin Newsom to prioritize deeply affordable housing production by supporting AB 1657! <[link removed]>

Si no financiamos viviendas asequibles, tendremos más personas sin hogar.
El Gobernador prometió construir 1 millón de viviendas asequibles para 2030, pero actualmente, al estado todavía le faltan miles de millones de dólares para cubrir lo que se necesita. Necesitamos que el estado invierta $18 mil millones de dólares cada año para alcanzar nuestra meta y, sin embargo, el estado todavía carece de una fuente de ingresos dedicada a viviendas asequibles.
Ahora mismo podemos cambiar eso: la Ley de Bonos para Vivienda Asequible de 2024 (AB 1657) está avanzando en la legislatura y recaudaría $10 mil millones para viviendas asequibles.
