“You see, during Jim Crow, the Black family was together. During Jim Crow, more Black people were not just conservative — Black people have always been conservative-minded — but more Black people voted conservatively…” - Byron Donalds
You read that right, John. Byron Donalds — a Florida Republican campaigning for Donald Trump — believes that Black families were stronger during life under Jim Crow.
It's a damnable statement, but sadly, it's not surprising coming from someone who supports a convicted felon running for president.
Byron’s comments are not just offensive— they're dangerous. They seek to rewrite history and minimize the suffering that Black people endured during the Jim Crow era.
The so-called “conservative vote” of Black people couldn’t even see their vote come to fruition because their vote was so suppressed during Jim Crow. Black people across the nation were subject to oppression, segregation, discrimination, and even death because of the color of their skin.
We deserve leaders who understand our history and are committed to building a better future for all. If we want to restore dignity back to Congress, we must act now. Your support is crucial in our fight against such blatant ignorance and disregard for historical truth.
John, chip in whatever you can to help us stop so-called leaders like Byron Donalds from further eroding the integrity of Congress. [link removed]
Dangerous narratives like this will do nothing but push us further back. Stand with us so we can stop these Republican extremists in their tracks.
Thank you,
Team Evans
