At a time when Americans need accurate, reliable information more than ever, Betsy DeVos and the Department of Education shared FALSE information on their website.

The Education Department’s website had previously claimed that borrowers who have their student loan payments put into administrative forbearance during the COVID-19 crisis would not have those months counted towards their payments towards the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program. But the CARES Act, signed into law by President Trump on March 27, states that those months will count towards participation in the PSLF program.

We here at Allied Progress placed pressure on the DOE to correct the record -- and it worked . We remain fully committed to standing up for consumers by keeping people like Betsy DeVos answerable to the American public.
