This week in Harrisburg, the House moved one step closer to passing Pennsylvania’s 2024-25 Budget by approving HB 2370 which outlines the plan to pay for Education in Pennsylvania. This bill is the result of months-long discussions and meetings of the Basic Education Funding Commission which was established after the Commonwealth Court ruled that Pennsylvania fails to adequately fund public education.
As outlined in HB 2370, $728 million would be designated for school districts that were found to be chronically underfunded. $200 million would be distributed throughout Pennsylvania so that all 500 school districts receive a raise. This bill also includes reforms to Pennsylvania’s Cyber Charter schools so they receive fair funding and save school districts
$530 million. Lastly, this bill would also provide for $136 million in property tax relief. I voted YES for HB 2370 and it passed with bipartisan support, 107-94, and has now been delivered to the Pennsylvania Senate for consideration. Make sure to contact your state senator and urge them to vote YES without amendments on HB 2370.

I’m also happy to announce that one of my veteran bills was reported out of committee and will go to the house chamber for consideration. HB 2010 would restructure the eligibility allowances from the Veterans’ Trust Fund so that Veteran Organizations are able to plan and execute better and more comprehensive programs, increasing efficiency and efficacy.
