Before we ask, please hear us out on why this is important.
This week, news broke that a second Tory candidate, and another member of Rishi Sunak’s inner circle have
been caught betting on when polling day would be — just before Rishi called for the election.
They are being investigated for using insider info to line their own pockets.
And Rishi Sunak has taken no action to dismiss any of them.
This isn't suprising. There is a history the Tories being accused of using
access and influence to line their own pockets - remember the PPE scandal during the pandemic -
and an open culture of thinking the rules don't apply to them. Who’d expect
any more from the party whose cronies profited at the expense of our NHS while
COVID swept the country.
Tory PMs and MPs were dismissed unceremoniously over and over because they used
their office and their power for their own benefit. Scandal after scandal after
scandal. Boris Johnson’s parties. The Liz Truss fiasco. Rishi Sunak promised integrity,
but this latest episode shows he never turned the page.
That's why we need the results on polling day to be a clear rejection of the
Tories. It's why we won't relent in our fight for every last vote.
But these insiders, the people surrounded by stories and allegations of
profiting from 14 years of Tories at the expense of the rest of us, are going to
give whatever they can to buy the Tories five more years in power. Tory
officials have actually briefed the media that a campaign spending boom is
coming, and we need to prepare for them to throw the kitchen sink at us.
So here’s where we ask:
Please donate £5 or whatever you can today to make the Tories pay the price.
Every pound will be used to kick the Tories out of Number 10 and send a message
loud and clear that our government is not to be used for their personal
enrichment.
