There’s no Labour Party or campaign without supporters like you, so I want to make sure you know how things are looking from campaign HQ: 

The truth is, we need to raise another £1 million before polling day to ensure we can face up the Tory campaign’s final push. It’s an ambitious goal, so I need everyone who is able to, and wants to get rid of the Tories, to make a donation to help us close this budget gap.

We are running an energetic campaign to win. As you’ve probably heard, securing even the smallest possible majority in Parliament would require the largest swing in post-war history. So the challenge in front of us was always going to be monumental, and then the Tories — in an attempt to put their hands on the scale — nearly doubled the spending cap.

Already, our campaign is the most expensive one in the history of the Labour Party, and we still need the resources to bring it home. But the truth is we’re pacing behind our grassroots fundraising projections.

I say this not to alarm you but because I believe we should be as honest and transparent with you as possible. We’re a team, and we are depending on people like you to help us elect a Labour government and kick the Tories out of Number 10.

So I’m going to level with you: we need to raise £1 million before polls close. To enact our full plan, to make sure we get the best result possible, and critically, to be able to face up to this week’s enormous Tory assault on Labour. Make no mistake, it’s coming.

We cannot stumble or fall behind now. Millions of voters remain undecided, the Tories outraised us by over £17 million last year and they’re waiting until the last gasp of the campaign to start spending it.

That’s why we need a surge of donations today if we don’t want to risk falling short of victory.
