Next week, Republicans will kick-off their national convention, ending with the official nomination of Donald Trump as their presidential candidate.

I want to talk a little bit about the convention, and what it means for our race here in Michigan.

First, this is four nights of national media coverage for National Republicans which can show if they are capable of remaining disciplined in their messaging. That is a lot of eyeballs, and potentially undecided voters, watching.

Second, because there is no state as important as Michigan in this election, you can be sure a lot of their messaging will be geared toward reaching voters in our state, including even potentially a speaking slot for at least one of our potential opponents.

Third, these conventions tend to drive a lot of donations and activism to Republican candidates up-and-down the ballot. And that is an advantage we don't have at this moment.

So this is one of those weeks where the response from those who want to see me — and all Democrats — win in Michigan is important. So if you're looking for a good time to donate, this is as good as it gets.

If holding Michigan's Senate seat for Democrats feels worth it to you, I am asking you to make a donation to my campaign today.
