Dear Neighbor, I hope you are well! I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on several happenings in the district as well as Harrisburg.

Harrisburg Update 

This week I continue to highlight the historic investment into our Commonwealth through the passing of the Pennsylvania Budget by highlighting its impact on the Department Human Services. I am proud of the contributions that will be made toward childcare services, youth development, and mental health resources. This budget is a move in the right direction!

Also this past week, SB 209 was signed by the Governor. This legislation provides children of National Guard/Reserve members the same benefits as active-duty military families under the Military Interstate Children’s Compact. The bill will help these children with their transitions between schools in different states. My years in the Air Force made this cause of special interest to me. Anything that we can do to make the sacrifices of military families easier is an action we, as a grateful nation, should take.

Trappe Dinner on Main

Thank you to our neighbors at Historic Trappe for inviting me to their annual Dinner on Main event and for permitting me to address the attendees. Many thanks also to the local businesses that participated and for those who provided entertainment. It was a fantastic selection of food and drink!

Scam Jam

On Friday, August 9th, I will be hosting a Scam Jam from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Upper Providence Township Administration Building. This program is designed to help individuals spot and avoid frauds and scams. Don’t miss this special event where I team up with other PA Departments and Offices!

Start of Olympics – July 26th

With the Olympics beginning in Paris on Friday, we want to congratulate all Pennsylvania athletes who have made it to the international level for their sport! We want to give special recognition to Montgomery County athlete Ashley Sessa from Schwenksville (Field Hockey). Go Team USA!

Korean War Veterans Armistice Day – July 27th

On Saturday, July 27th, we remember all of the veterans who served and died in the Korean War. America observes this day with South Korea each year to commemorate the peace treaty that led to a cease-fire in this war. We also reflect on the service and sacrifices made by our troops.

One-Day Office Hour Change 

On Friday, July 26, my office will be closing at noon for a staff retreat. We will reopen Monday, July 29 at 9:30 a.m.  

Pipe Replacement – July 29th through August 2nd

At the end of July and beginning of August, there is planned pipe replacement occurring on Route 113. From Monday, July 29th to Wednesday, July 31st from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Route 113 will be closed between Black Road and Main Street. On Thursday, August 1st, and Friday, August 2nd, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Route 113 will be closed between Main Street and Route 29 (Gravel Pike). Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511pa.com.

Summer Collection Drive

My office is collecting nonperishable foods, school materials, and cleaning supplies for my Summer Collection Drive. Drop off donations at my district office or at one of the local township or borough offices now through August 8th!
