Today is Michigan's U.S. Senate primary.

By the time we wake up tomorrow, we will know who our opponent will be in the general election.

If history is any guide, we also know that the moment the Republicans have their nominee, that person will enjoy an enormous fundraising and volunteer boost. They'll also get the support of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

It is also the moment that the outside spending groups waiting to attack us will begin to rev up their engines as well. The truth is, they have already reserved millions in TV time, and have ads already in the works just waiting for this moment, so they can turn on their attacks the moment the general election begins.

So this is one of those major inflection points in our race: the day before we find out our general election opponent, and start the final sprint to November.

That's why I am asking for your help this morning. Because it's not enough to be ready on day one -- we have to be ready before day one.

That’s the logic behind asking you to contribute to my campaign for U.S. Senate in Michigan. In a race as expensive and competitive as this one, I need your help if we're going to win.
