John, yesterday I left the House floor where I took a bipartisan vote to avoid a catastrophic government shutdown that MAGA Speaker Mike Johnson and his far-right extremist allies in the majority nearly forced.

The Speaker played politics with the first vote on a Continuing Resolution (CR), parroting the same lies and conspiracies as Donald Trump. Many of his own Republican members voted against it before we passed a clean version.

Now, veterans will continue to receive their health care benefits.

Social Security services will remain available to seniors.

FEMA will be able to respond to natural disasters.

Families will still receive the support they need.

This government funding deadline should never have been allowed to come so close, and it is another reason why we need to end the extreme MAGA leadership of Speaker Mike Johnson and the chaos of a Republican House majority.
