Email from 40 Days for Life Heroic vigil leader saves a baby AND a mom John, Some abortion-bound moms encounter a 40 Days for Life vigil, choose life, and go along their way. Others need considerable ongoing support. Atlanta 40 Days for Life leader Cathy recently empowered a pregnant mother to choose life. But a checkered past involving drug use, a prostitution charge, and a felony conviction left the woman ineligible for some of the support services she needed to turn her life around and follow through on her life decision. Cathy wouldn't let her slip through the cracks. She put the woman up in a hotel--and then got to work to find longer-term answers. "I called this maternity home and explained how much this mom wants a 'do over,'" Cathy recounted. "They were willing to talk to her in spite of her past." After a phone interview, Cathy drove the expectant mother hours away to an in-person interview. The conversation went well, and the maternity home agreed to take the mom in. "We got her things from the ghetto apartment she was staying in previously," Cathy shared. "While we were there, we saw her pimp and literally had to run away from him." While the mother--suffering from extreme nausea--prepared to move into the maternity home, Cathy set up a doctor's appointment, picked up a prescription, and acquired food and supplies for her. When Cathy brought the mom to the maternity home, the two women parted with hugs and tears. "She's so happy," Cathy said. "I know she will be so loved on. Praise God this woman is in a stable, loving environment--what a beautiful start for a new life for this mom!" Cleveland, Ohio Fred from Cleveland reported two babies saved within an hour of each other! "Did you change your mind?" Fred asked the first mother. "I saved my baby!" she responded. Shortly thereafter, a woman approached Fred and said, "I saw you, and I changed my mind. I'm keeping my baby!" Comayagua, Honduras A woman in Honduras brought her pregnant preteen daughter for an abortion. It was a tragic situation--and one made worse when the poor girl was kicked out of her home. Fortunately, 40 Days for Life participants on the scene both prayed for the poor girl and offered practical support. Those prayers were answered, as another family welcomed the girl into their home. With their support, the girl chose life! I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. --John 13:34 Dear Jesus, please instill in me a rich understanding of your love so that I might share it with others. Grant me the courage to open my heart to others. Give me the grace to treat each person as I would treat you. Amen.
