Email from 40 Days for Life ...and 2 very different reactions John, Abortion advocates promise women a lot. They promise that abortion will help them escape poverty, achieve their dreams, or even become better mothers. But after the abortion, all the problems that drove a woman to have the abortion in the first place remain--and often get worse. Vigil participants in New Hampshire witnessed this firsthand as a couple and their toddler came to Planned Parenthood. Daddy and daughter dropped Mom off. When they returned to pick her up, the now post-abortive woman struggled to make it to the car. "We could see the mother facing us with her face contorted in pain and eyes closed," wrote Cathy. "The father had a big smile." Contrast this tragic story with another woman who came to Planned Parenthood for an abortion that same day. Unlike the first woman, this mother left Planned Parenthood smiling--because she didn't have the abortion. "I still have my baby!" she shouted, waving an ultrasound image of her baby for all to see. "Two mothers with two very different reactions," Cathy noted. Saturday is the busiest abortion day of the week--and today is the last abortion day of the vigil in many cities. Finish strong by heading out to pray: 40daysforlife.com/location Glenwood Springs, Colorado Halloween is over, but there's something spooky going on at Planned Parenthood. Glenwood Springs 40 Days for Life leader Michael said it appears the abortion business cleaned up the OUTSIDE of its property, getting rid of trash, weeds, and even rodents... ...but something INSIDE creeped out a young man who accompanied a Planned Parenthood client to her appointment. After just a few minutes in the building, he left. "When queried about his sudden return outside, he volunteered that he couldn't take the atmosphere," Michael recalled. "It was dark and creepy. He could not tolerate the anxiety he felt inside." Halifax, Nova Scotia An angry abortion supporter stole vigil participants' signs--and returned the next week for another confrontation. During his second visit, he stood next to prayer warriors holding a sign of his own--one with a vulgar and insulting message. But Louise was able to de-escalate the tension by asking the man questions. It turns out he had pressured his girlfriend to have an abortion. Thankfully, she resisted. The conversation helped the man realize just how out of line he was. He crushed his rude sign, saying, "I'm an idiot. I'm sorry." Schenectady, New York An angry motorist rolled down her window and demanded a vigil participant tell her just where help for expectant mothers in crisis could be found. "Right there!" the 40 Days for Life volunteer responded, pointing toward the pregnancy help center. "When do they open?" she asked. When the volunteer replied, his accuser simply replied, "Okay." "She drove away, apparently satisfied," reported Larry, the Schenectady leader. "[It was] a What to Say When 2-esque experience." Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe." Thomas answered and said to him, "My Lord and my God!" --John 20:27-28 Dear Jesus, thank you for the ways that science helps us to better see and know your creation. Please lead every expectant mother to a place that will enable her to see her child with an ultrasound. Grant her the simplicity to see the humanity in her womb and the courage to protect it. Amen.
