Friends,

We need to inform you of incidents that took place in the last week and ways we can keep safe.

For those who don't know, there have been four separate incidents since the election over the last week of either harassment or assault by Trump supporters and open fascists in Seattle, specifically against BIPOC and queer community members.

While none of these incidents have been against DSA members so far, we would still like to share some advice to keep everyone safe:

  • If walking alone, especially after dark, keep your head on a swivel - be aware of your surroundings
  •  If you have to go out alone at night, let someone know where you are going and when you expect to be back. Consider going out in pairs.
  • Working groups and committees can request Mobilization Committee for deescalation/security volunteers at events

The final thing to remember is that we are not alone. We're in this struggle together, both as an organization and as a community.

If you learn about any incidents near you, please contact us by replying to this email, contacting us through [email protected], or on the Mobilization Committee Slack channel.

Join Seattle DSA to help build affordable social housing in Seattle by taxing wealthy corporations!
We’ll be doorknocking to educate voters about funding affordable social housing.

Door knocking is one of the best ways to reach voters about an issue, and you’ll be knocking doors alongside folks who have talked to hundreds – some even thousands – of voters!

Canvassing will usually last for a couple hours after a short training session at the beginning about best door knocking practices. The only thing you need to bring is a mobile phone and why you want to have social housing for your Seattle neighbors.
