We’re filled with joy and gratitude as we reflect on the incredible success of TIES 2024! The event brought together over 400 attendees from across all regions of Virginia, including community leaders, organizers, health providers, advocates, and allies creating a vibrant space for learning, connection, and joy.
The impact of the event was best summed up by a youth attendee, who shared: "TIES was life-changing—I left feeling seen, inspired, and energized in a way I’ve never experienced.”
Together, we shared moments of connection, learned from inspiring presenters and panelists, and recharged in the collective power of community.
Some highlights from the event include:
- Keynote storyteller Ti Malik Coleman moved us with heartfelt moments and laughter, leaving attendees feeling uplifted and motivated.

Over 20 workshops and panels empowered attendees on topics ranging from How to Thrive as a Trans Person to The State of Gender Affirming Care in Virginia.
- Over 20 partners participated in our Resource Showcase to provide support and service to our attendees.
- This year’s new Empowerment Hours offered a variety of free services, including professional headshots, acupuncture, scalp massage and a clothing exchange.
- Hundreds of meaningful connections formed during networking hours and in social spaces.
