Hi John — I
hope you are doing well.

Because of your support, I have a new title for the first time in years:
United States Senator-Elect. And I can’t thank you enough.

Over the last few weeks, while continuing to serve the people of my
congressional district in the House, I’ve also participated in a
bipartisan Senate orientation.

Here I am with the new Democratic Senators: Lisa Blunt Rochester, Elissa
Slotkin, Andy Kim, Ruben Gallego, and Angela Alsobrooks. I campaigned with and
for these wonderful people and am lucky to have the opportunity to work with
them now in the Senate.

I have been making a determined effort to meet with my new colleagues
across the aisle and look for ways we can work together. The Senate
operates on unanimous consent for much of its business and you can’t move
anything forward without bipartisan support. As I will be in the minority
in both houses, this will be all the more essential.

With a new chamber of Congress comes new rules and procedures to learn,
new committee assignments, and much more.

Throughout my campaign, I spoke with voters about the need to bring down
the cost of housing, child care, food, and medicine — and I am determined
to do all I can to make the economy work for everyone.

I’m ready to roll up my sleeves, find people across the aisle, and make
sure we deliver for the hard-working people of our state. And, as always,
stand up for our democracy and freedoms.
