One of the reasons we can have complete confidence in the County’s election results is because of the fine work by our Board of Canvassers. The four-person Board of Canvassers is composed of Chairperson Nancy Tiseo, Vice Chair Alysa Diebolt, and Lori Mabee and Sarah Stovall.

The Board is responsible for reviewing and analyzing the results of all elections to determine who has been nominated or elected. After the general election, the board delivers certificates of election to the County Clerk. The board also conducts recounts of certain offices.

For those that witnessed the Canvass (sort of like an audit) say that they were impressed with the incredible amount of detail that the canvassers go through.

"Coin flip, slips of paper determine last seat on Mount Clemens school board after tie"

By Christina Hall, Detroit Free Press

A large ceremonial coin from the tiny Italian town of Pignataro Interamna; two sheets of white copy paper, and a clean, black plastic rubbish bin helped determine who won the election tiebreaker for the last seat on the Mount Clemens Community Schools board.

Macomb County Clerk/Register of Deeds Anthony Forlini recalled the story of the gold coin, from his father's hometown and given to Forlini when he was a state representative, Wednesday for school board candidates Rashidah Hammond and Alex Bronson, who both won 3,496 votes in the Nov. 5 election.

They were vying for the last of four seats on the school board, which oversees a school district of just over 750 children, per state stats, in the county seat.
