John,
In keeping with the spirit of the week, I am emailing to express our team’s deepest gratitude for your support this year.
To be frank, there are countless reasons to be alarmed about the outcomes of the 2024 elections.
But we also can’t ignore the wins that we did see – because seven states passed measures to enshrine abortion rights in their state constitutions. And these measures created a pathway to overturn abortion bans in Arizona and in Missouri, which had one of the strictest bans in the country.
To date, there have been 18 abortion-focused ballot initiatives since Roe was overturned, and the pro-choice option has garnered a whopping 60.4% of the vote across these propositions. In today’s polarized politics, we’re calling that a decisive victory.
Down-ballot, reproductive champions won across the country as well. For example, in North Carolina, pro-choice candidates won races for Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, and Secretary of State. The final votes are being tallied in a recount of the State Supreme Court race, and incumbent pro-choice Democrat Allison Riggs is ahead by just hundreds of votes.
When we say that every vote counts, this is why: positions of enormous power are routinely won or lost by very tiny margins.
And with margins like this, every dollar counts. Our average donation in 2024 was $25.34—and these contributions made all the difference.
Grassroots donors helped us to research 3,480 candidates across the country. This support also empowered our team to directly and personally connect with more than 3.6 million pro-choice voters in battleground states, fueling wins in places like Arizona, Nevada, and North Carolina.
And we’re already looking ahead: our first 2025 priority is a special election in early January, which could determine control of the state senate and the future of a pro-choice constitutional amendment in Virginia.
So, thank you. Thank you for your support, your activism, and for believing that we can—and must—build a future where reproductive rights are secure.
In solidarity,
Sara Tabatabaie
