Email from Rep. Dan Newhouse We are blessed with another Thanksgiving season and the opportunity to gather with friends and family, celebrate the blessings in our lives, and share a meal. Weekly Column - November 27, 2024 A Time to Give Thanks We are blessed with another Thanksgiving season and the opportunity to gather with friends and family, celebrate the blessings in our lives, and share a meal. As we do so, it is important to give thanks to those who make this holiday, and every meal, possible. This year, when I sit down with my loved ones, I will reflect on how thankful I am for everyone in the agriculture industry, from farmers to truck drivers, who have worked to ensure millions of families have food on the table for the holidays. Central Washington is home to a wide variety of high-quality farm products that make these occasions exceptional. From the thousands of acres of wheat to our exquisite orchard fruit, our local farmers and farm workers play a special role in supplying our region, and the country, with top-of-the-line products. Not to mention our world-renowned grapes that produce wines sought after by millions! None of this would be possible without the hard work of our agricultural industry. Our farmers are the stewards of the land, responsible for harvesting the crops that feed our nation. Their commitment, often passed from generation to generation, is a testament to their pride in having such a responsibility. Despite facing challenges, they persevere, and I believe that embodies the resilience of our great nation. But our producers are not the only ones we should be thankful for. It is also our truck drivers, barge workers, and distributors who transport goods from farms and factories to our local markets. Our grocery store employees ensure shelves are stocked, and food processors and packaging workers all play a role in bringing food from farms to fork. This Thanksgiving, I am also thankful for the opportunity to continue serving the good people of Central Washington as your representative in Congress. It has been a great honor to represent our incredible community, and I remain committed to bringing our values to Congress. I am extremely proud to call Central Washington my home, and from my family to yours, I wish you a happy Thanksgiving.
