Hundreds of millions across the globe will go without food tomorrow as Americans gather to celebrate Thanksgiving. This is the harsh reality in regions impacted by drought, natural disaster, and conflict.

Nowhere better exemplifies this right now than Sudan, where famine has been declared — only the third official famine since the system was created 20 years ago.

The crisis in Sudan cannot be overstated, and aid groups say malnourished children in a famine-hit camp for war-displaced people in Sudan’s western Darfur region are at risk of dying.

Before you log off to spend time with loved ones this Thanksgiving, we’re asking you to be there for those who can’t put food on the table: Make an emergency gift to deliver lifesaving care to Sudan and wherever women and girls are going hungry. [[link removed]?]

MAKE AN EMERGENCY GIFT [[link removed]?]

About 25.6 million people — more than half of Sudan’s population — face acute hunger.

In these desperate times, women often eat last and eat least, and harmful practices like child marriage tend to skyrocket.

Sudan has long been one of the most dangerous places to be a woman or girl. The ongoing conflict has led to rampant sexual violence against women, including gang rape and forced marriages of girls.

Famine conditions in Sudan will only exacerbate the perils women and girls are already facing. We cannot look away during their darkest times.

Your support at this moment is even more critical as the Trump administration considers cutting off U.S. funding for UNFPA once again. Without U.S. governmental support, over 570,000 people in conflict-affected regions across Sudan will face reduced access to critical violence prevention, response, and sexual and reproductive health services. This reduction will only increase vulnerability, reduce access to healthcare, and heighten risks for survivors of violence across multiple states.

Please, make an emergency gift before Thanksgiving to ensure women and girls going hungry in Sudan and beyond receive uninterrupted care that they so desperately need. [[link removed]?]

Thank you for being there for women and girls.
