John,
I’m wishing you a happy holiday this weekend as we gather and give thanks. I know that for many this season of gathering brings on a lot of stress. And I understand that many Democrats feel there is a shortage of things to be thankful for. Allow me to share some of the blessings that I am grateful for this week.
First and foremost, I’m grateful for you. Our fellowship with each other is not only key to organizing effective push back to rightwing schemes, but it is also what sustains us. To honor the volunteers who worked so much this cycle, and to celebrate our community of resiliency OKDEMS hosted a Friendsgiving potluck. A shared space to enjoy the fruits of our labor and to sit with each other in thanks is a core part of participating in and building community with our neighbors. I’m thankful for all of the volunteers who gave their time this season, and the Friendsgiving attendees and the delicious dishes they prepared.
I’m thankful for the drive in our office to stay engaged and remain oriented to service in the face of setbacks. After the election our staff leapt to ways we can orient our office and our community into service. We are so excited to announce the re-formation of the Democrats Care Committee [[link removed]] and our ongoing glove and sock need for our neighbors in need! [[link removed]]

Lastly, I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t share the good news about Oklahoma Democrats. In the face of a rightward swing amongst the electorate in Oklahoma and nationwide, our incumbent Democratic electeds ran on average 4.99 points ahead of Vice-President Harris in their home districts. This means Republicans voters in Oklahoma prefer the Democrats who represent them locally. This points to our path forward, relying on local engagement with our neighbors. Keep an eye on this space late next week for more details on that front.
In Solidarity,
Alicia Andrews
