Animals need you today. The city pound is overcrowded, pet abandonment is increasing, and more strays wander the city streets. More than 40 abandoned or stray pets enter the city pound every day. But PAWS Chicago is gaining ground.

We’re on pace to spay or neuter 17,000 dogs and cats, to find homes for more than 4,500 homeless animals, to help hundreds of struggling families keep their beloved pets in their homes instead of surrendering them to the city pound, and so much more.

And because of you, we’re helping pets like Maple.

Maple is a friendly, healthy pup whose family could no longer care for her. But due to massive overcrowding, Chicago Animal Care and Control, the city pound, could only take her as a euthanasia request.

THAT’S WHEN PAWS STEPPED IN.  

We accepted Maple directly from her family and within weeks, she was gnawing Kong toys and snuggling on the sofa in her new, adopted home.  

As the number of homeless pets continues to rise, so must our efforts to save them. We have already found homes for more than 4,000 pets this year. We’ve rescued more than 1,850 from the city pound and 944 directly from families. This lifesaving grows every day, while our spay/neuter efforts are critical to reducing pet overpopulation at its source.
