North Carolina GOP plans to appeal denial of Griffin’s ballot challenges
* The North Carolina Republican Party asked ([link removed]) the state election board to issue a written order about its dismissal ([link removed]) of GOP state Supreme Court candidate Jefferson Griffin’s 60,000 ballot challenges, so they can appeal the decision in court.
* After two different recounts, Democratic incumbent Justice Allison Riggs’ victory in the 2024 race was solidified ([link removed]) . However, Griffin has not conceded and state Republicans continue to challenge the results.
* The state GOP argued the board “wrongly decided” to dismiss Jefferson’s election protests, which “highlighted legitimate concerns about irregularities in the November 5 election.”

* As of today, the U.S. Senate has confirmed ([link removed]) 233 judges nominated by President Joe Biden. President-elect Donald Trump appointed 234 judges to lifetime appointments during his term, and with a couple of weeks left in the Senate’s session, it looks like Biden will surpass Trump’s total.
* After the election, the Senate has rushed ([link removed]) to confirm as many judges as possible before Trump enters office. Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said ([link removed]) that “this may be the busiest committee in the Senate.”
Georgia judge hands loss to former Trump attorney in election subversion case
* Today, a Fulton County judge denied ([link removed]) Kenneth Chesebro's request to invalidate his guilty plea in the Georgia election subversion case. Chesebro pleaded ([link removed]) guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to file false documents for his role in a fake electors scheme.
