Dear John,

Today on International Migrants Day, we honor the courage, resilience, and perseverance of migrants. A migrant is simply someone who moves away from their typical place of residence. Migration is a deeply human act—seeking safety, opportunity, and a better life. Yet, the challenges faced by migrants often stem from conditions they did not create. We may ask ourselves these questions as we examine what it means to be a migrant:

Why do people migrate?
What conditions exist, and how are those conditions created, that cause people to consider migration?
Who is considered a migrant and what challenges accompany that designation?

At the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota (ILCM), we believe that no person should be restricted from pursuing safety, dignity, and joy based on their identity. Every day, we work to dismantle barriers and advocate for the rights of those who seek a better future in Minnesota and North Dakota.

This crucial work is only possible because of supporters like you. Today, ILCM needs your help more than ever. Please consider making a gift to ensure that migrants in our community have the resources and advocacy they need for living full, healthy, and happy lives.
