** 2023-2024 Litigation Report: The Most Litigated Election in History
------------------------------------------------------------

Speaking of busy, this past year was the most litigated election cycle in history. Democracy Docket tracked voting rights and election-related litigation leading up to the 2024 election. The team’s analysis found that despite a wave of lawsuits aimed at restricting voting access, courts consistently ruled in favor of voters.

Over 300 democracy-related lawsuits were filed this election cycle, according to the report. As expected, the pace of litigation increased in the second half of the cycle with a total of 228 lawsuits in 2024 — more than double the 82 lawsuits filed in 2020. “It has become common to identify ways in which Donald Trump has distorted our democracy,” Marc writes in his latest column. “His attacks on judges, his willful disregard for rule of law and his insistence on appointing unqualified sycophants to positions of high office are all a matter of consternation and commentary.” But Trump’s greatest damage, Marc says, “has been to the electoral process itself.” Read more here ([link removed]) .
