Dear Friend,
It's Joe Courtney.
I hope you and your loved ones are enjoying a happy and peaceful holiday season. Before we ring in the New Year, I want to take a look back at what we have accomplished in 2024, and toward the work ahead in 2025. Here is "2024 In Review" for Connecticut's Second Congressional District.
A Year's Worth of Work for Connecticut's Second District
There’s no higher priority for my office and I than serving you. My staff in Norwich and Enfield are ready to assist with all sorts of work related to the federal government: passport applications, grant applications, security clearances, immigration, veterans benefits, medicare and medicaid services, and the IRS to name just a few casework areas.
In 2024, my office completed 50 cases in which Second District residents were owed money by the federal government. If we can be of any assistance, don't hesitate to give us a call in the new year.
Breaking Through the Gridlock in Congress
The ongoing gridlock in Washington presented a major obstacle in 2024. The 118th Congress was the least productive since the Civil War.
My team and I remained committed to getting things done in a bipartisan fashion whenever and wherever possible. We advanced many of our local priorities, either by getting them signed into law or by setting them up for success in the upcoming 119th Congress with House passage this year.
Bringing Federal Funding Home
My office and I closely track federal grant opportunities for local towns, businesses, and non-profit organizations.
In 2024, federal grants supported small business growth, enhanced public safety, and made long-overdue infrastructure projects a reality.
Best from the Year
There's so much that defined 2024. Here is a snapshot of some of the major events and projects that happened in eastern Connecticut this year. What was your top moment from the year?
Thanks for taking some time to read my update. I hope you have a happy and safe New Year's!
If we can be of any assistance, don't hesitate to give my Norwich office a call at (860) 886-0139.
Sincerely,
Joe Courtney
Member of Congress
