2024 Coalitions Highlights

Team Coalitions hosted more than 50 virtual and in-person events across our caucuses and committees, working tirelessly to connect with voters in every corner of New Jersey. From representing our state at the Democratic National Convention to electing Andy Kim, the first Korean American Senator, we've been deeply involved in advancing our shared values and priorities. Our efforts to engage with and mobilize voters across all communities have been our top priority and will continue in the year to come.

Voter Education Program

Our voter education program is dedicated to empowering voters with the knowledge they need to engage civically. The NJDSC plays a key role in educating voters on how to locate their polling place, understand what's on the ballot, and create a plan to vote—whether in person or by mail. We also offer resources to support table efforts, ensuring that every voter has the tools they need to make their voice heard.

Voter Outreach Phone and Text Banks

Coalitions organized over 20 phone and text banking efforts, working tirelessly to reach out to voters, share important information, and encourage participation in the democratic process.

A special shoutout goes to our Black Caucus, who hosted the most phone and text banks, leading the charge in connecting with voters and mobilizing support across the state. Their dedication has been vital in strengthening our outreach efforts.

Unpacking Key Issues

This year, we hosted a range of impactful conversations with New Jersey leaders in health care, housing, and education through our Affordability Panel with the Latino and Progressive Caucuses. The Older Adult Caucus held a virtual discussion with Congressman Frank Pallone, where they focused on his advocacy for older adults, addressing critical issues such as health care transparency, prescription drugs, Social Security, and robocalls, highlighting the importance of staying informed about federal policies that affect older adults. The Women’s Caucus marked Women’s Equality Day with a dynamic virtual discussion featuring Chair A’Dorian Murray-Thomas and Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill, celebrating progress in gender equality and reaffirming the ongoing commitment to advancing women's rights. Our largest event of the series was hosted by the Progressive Caucus, Emerging Leaders Caucus, New Jersey Young Democrats, and New Jersey High School Democrats, featuring Congressman Jared Huffman (CA-2). This discussion prioritized the critical stakes of climate and environmental policy in the election, as well as the threat posed by Project 2025 and Christian nationalism to both our planet and our democracy.

Launch of our Interfaith Committee

We expanded Team Coalitions by launching our Interfaith Committee, a diverse coalition committed to fostering collaboration and understanding across religious and spiritual communities within the NJDSC. The committee aims to amplify the voices of faith-based communities and ensure their perspectives are represented. One of our highlights this year was the success of our monthly virtual prayer series, which brought together individuals from various faith traditions in a spirit of unity and reflection. We’re excited to continue this important initiative into the new year and look forward to further strengthening our ties with faith communities across New Jersey.
