Before the year ends, make a gift to support our progressive moment

Ayanna Pressley for Congress

Ayanna needs resources to help fight for people-centered policies in 2025. Can you make a contribution today?

I first ran for office because I wanted to bring those too often left out and left behind to the table. I always say the people closest to the pain should be closest to the power, driving and informing the policymaking.

Policy isn’t about a document that sits on a shelf, it is about the lived realities of everyone who calls this country home. I know I see my family’s struggles and aspirations reflected in policy, and chances are you do too.

There is no doubt that policy can dictate quite literally who lives and dies, who survives and thrives. We have seen examples of legislated hurt and harm from redlining to mass incarceration to abortion bans to the dehumanization of our immigrant neighbors. But I still believe that we can legislate healing. We can enact policies that build equity and justice too.

I fight for universal childcare daily. Like many of you of the years I was raised by a single mother who was required to do the impossible.

I fight for reproductive justice because I know our bodily autonomy is fundamental and everyone of us deserves to make our own healthcare decisions.

I fight for clemency because like so many of you, I know what it’s like to have a family member criminalized and end up behind the wall.

I fight for housing justice. Everyday in our district and across the nation far too many neighbors dread a knock on their door that destabilizes their family. I experienced housing insecurity and know that having a roof over your head is everything.

I fight for paid leave because everyone of us will be a caregiver or need care at some point in our lives. I was my mother’s caregiver during her battle with leukemia and paid leave was a blessing in our final days together on this earth.

I fight for canceling student loan debt because no one should face decades of economic pain simply for continuing their education.

I fight for economic justice and closing the racial wealth gap that systematically prevents Black Americans from thriving because we all deserve to grow old and live in the communities that raised us.

I’ll never stop using my voice to champion bold, transformative change. And I’ll never stop advocating for those who are ignored, left out, and left behind — because I know how that can shape a life. If you’re able, please make your end-of-year gift of $25 or whatever you can to help power our movement and the fights ahead in 2025.
