JANUARY 3, 2024
Dear Fourth District Constituent,
Happy New Year! I hope you had a happy holiday, and I wish that 2025 brings peace, joy, and fulfillment to you and your loved ones.
Honoring the Life and Legacy of Former President Jimmy Carter
I'm deeply saddened by the passing of President Carter. A public servant until the very end of his days, he left a positive imprint on the fabric of American history. I send my deepest condolences to his family, and join all Americans as we mourn the loss of our 39th president. Rep. McCollum and Former Vice President Walter Mondale joined Former President Jimmy Carter for a build project in Saint Paul through Habitat for Humanity in 2005.
The 119th Congress Begins
Today, Members of Congress convened in Washington for the start of the 119th Congress. It is a great honor to be sworn in to continue serving the working families of Minnesota’s Fourth District. I’m grateful to residents of the East Metro for entrusting me to represent our shared values in Washington, and I look forward to getting to work delivering for the residents of our communities.
My vote and my values remain focused on governing responsibly, defending our democracy, and protecting our rights and freedoms. While Donald Trump and Republicans will have full control of the federal government, I continue to seek opportunities to work across the aisle when possible and to push back against Republican extremism when necessary.
Just as I have throughout my career in public service, I will put the interests of the North Star State first – because our communities deserve strong leadership rooted in the values we share as Minnesotans.
MNsure Open Enrollment
MNsure is Minnesota's health insurance marketplace. Open enrollment for MNsure is currently underway, and will run through January 15th, 2025. This is the annual opportunity for Minnesotans to compare options, change plans, or sign up for coverage.
Thanks to Congressional Democrats and the Biden-Harris Administration, Minnesotans who have coverage through MNsure can continue to save money on health insurance next year. Minnesotans who receive tax credits through MNsure will save an average of $6,700 on health insurance premiums next year because of enhanced federal subsidies that were part of the Inflation Reduction Act. Visit mnsure.org for more info, to compare plans, and get covered.
As always, please stay in touch: Voice your policy opinion, ask for help with a federal agency, or find all of my recent statements at mccollum.house.gov.
Sincerely,
Betty McCollum
Member of Congress
