Four years ago, like millions of Americans, I watched as an enraged crowd breached the halls of our nation’s Capitol in Washington, D.C. to overturn the people’s vote.
This violent and deadly insurrection was the culmination of lies and conspiracies about the 2020 election spread by Donald Trump and his far-right base.
At the time, both sides denounced the violence and vitriol, and I hoped that would bring about much-needed unity — but that wasn’t what happened.
Instead, the most extreme factions within the Republican Party embraced that strategy.
As the Secretary of State at the time, I was harassed and even received death threats because of my role in overseeing Arizona’s elections.
In addition, my former opponent, Kari Lake, continues to follow Donald Trump's dangerous precedent by refusing to accept both of her election losses.
There is even an indicted fake elector, Jake Hoffman, currently serving in our state legislature — and he continues to defend Trump’s Big Lie.
It’s more evident than ever: The far-right's efforts to undermine trust in our elections are persisting.
We cannot allow their unjust lawsuits, misinformation tactics, and attacks against our democratic processes to gain any traction, John.
That’s why I’m committed to ensuring our elections remain safe and secure — no matter the outcome. With your support, I’ll continue to defend our democracy and protect our fundamental right to vote.
