[1]Alex Padilla for Senate

Friends, I wanted to reach out about the wildfires here in California.

First of all, if you’re in the area of the wildfires: I hope you and your family are safe. My heart goes out to the tens of thousands of families that have been evacuated and impacted.

I’m reaching out today to let you know about some of the resources — including federal relief — that’s already becoming available.

This is still an evolving situation. So please, make sure you’re signed up to get notifications at [link removed] It’s the fastest way to get important updates and accurate information, and will provide shelter information should you need it.

FEMA and the federal government are offering displacement assistance to cover hotel costs, and money to replace essential items. You can already apply for these funds by:

Going to disasterassistance.gov
Calling 800-621-FEMA (3362)
Using the FEMA app (available for iOS and Android)

I also want to make sure you know that I’m working with President Biden, Governor Newsom, and partners at the federal, state, and local level to fight these wildfires and ensure those impacted have the resources and support they need to rebuild.

It is not going to be a quick or easy process to rebuild these communities. And with incoming President Trump — who's still a climate denier and who’s got it in for California especially — we’re facing a two-fold challenge.

Like I said, it will be a long process, but we will fight tooth and nail to make sure California can build back stronger than ever.

Thank you, and stay safe.

Sen. Alex Padilla

P.S. If you’re ok and looking for a way to help, please consider making a contribution to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund. Every dollar will go to supporting the families and communities impacted by the fire as they rebuild in the years ahead.
