Hi John! It’s Rosa Lander.

Did you go to my dad’s campaign kick off? The new campaign colors look great and the photos looked so fun (you know Brad Lander loves live music). I’m back on campus already so I sadly couldn’t attend.

To make up for it, though, I want to tell you a little story about my dad before asking you to make a contribution before our CFB fundraising deadline on Saturday: One afternoon when I was 11, he took me canoeing on the Gowanus Canal.

Back then, the Gowanus Canal was one of the more polluted bodies of water in the country (in recent years, Brooklyn has made a lot of progress to clean it up). Despite paddling through dirty water, all my dad could see was the beauty of our city – pointing out buildings with interesting histories, calling out the names of birds, and waving to people walking across the bridges.

My favorite part of this memory is that every time I looked back at him, he was looking around with so much awe and joy, you would’ve thought it was his first time seeing it. To this day, every time I’m biking or walking across a bridge over the Gowanus, I stop to look around.

If you know Brad Lander, this story probably doesn’t surprise you. He’ll go do anything (even paddle down a polluted river!) to show his love for our city, and to encourage others to feel that same love.

John, will you please make a donation of any amount to my dad's campaign today? Donations from New York City residents are matched 8:1 and have a direct and immediate impact. We’re trying to raise as much money as possible before the CFB fundraising deadline on January 11. If you’re able to, please make a donation here: http://secure.actblue.com/donate/bsl-em-jan25-2

The best city on earth deserves a mayor who cares deeply and puts in the work. That’s why I’m all in for #DadLander for NYC!

Thanks,

Rosa B. Lander
