[ [link removed] ]Welch for Vermont

Hi Friends,

This week, we entered a new Washington. Republicans have (thin) majorities
in both the Senate and the House. Donald Trump will be sworn into office
soon.

I can’t make any promises about what will happen with a
Republican-controlled Congress and White House. Here’s what I can promise:

I’ll oppose any attempt to damage our democracy. Donald Trump is a threat
to our democracy. I will fight any attempt by him or Republicans in
Congress to harm the pillars of our democracy that keep America together.

I’ll continue finding common ground to make bipartisan change. I worked
with Republicans when we were in the majority and I will work with
Republicans now that we’re in the minority. There are so many issues that
impact people in states represented by Republicans and Democrats alike. We
can make great progress to improve the lives of people around the country
by working together.

I’ll combat any rollback of our constitutional and basic human rights. The
right to make choices about your body. The right to live your life
authentically. Freedom of the press. I will push back against any attempt
to restrict these basic rights.

This is an uncertain time. But let me make one thing certain to you, I
will fight for Vermont values in Washington.

Thank you,

Peter
